Paracelsus (1493 - 1541  "The dose makes the poison")

The education provided by the Toxicology section is directed towards Environmental Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Food Technology students. In addition Biology and Molecular Sciences students often attend Toxicology courses.

Toxicology provides a number of lecture series and practical courses in Dutch and for English speaking MSc-students. On a regular basis the section contributes to postgraduate education programs and to national and international courses, for example the Postgraduate Education in Toxicology (P.E.T.), the international toxicology and ecotoxicology courses organized by the European Training and Assessment Foundation (ETAF), the MSc programs Phytopathology and Environmental Studies of the Agricultural University, the International Course on Food Processing (IAC) and the national course Medical Environmental Science (TNO).

In the almost 36 years of existence of Toxicology at Wageningen University, thousands of students participated in the lecture series and practical courses. More than 800 of them also performed a MSc-thesis study at Toxicology during 5-7 months. For over 250 students a practical period was organized at toxicological institutes and laboratories in the Netherlands and in foreign countries. Our graduates found employment in a wide range of scientific, advisory and educational jobs in government, industry and the private sector.
